This Easter weekend, churches will be filled with people who wouldn't normally come on any other Sunday.
Maybe someone in your circle or family wouldn't usually go to church, but there is something about Easter Sunday that draws people to the house of the Lord. It could be because they feel it’s the right thing to do. Maybe they think if they go, they are a good person, or maybe it was just a simple invite from someone they know and care about.
Inviting someone to church who is skeptical, rough around the edges or who openly says they don’t believe in God can feel intimidating. What will they say? Will they shut me down? Will they laugh at me? Will they just stare awkwardly?
The good news is… probably. The even better news? If that’s the worst they can do, that’s actually great. Inviting someone can feel scary because we don’t know how they’ll respond, but we can rest in the fact that Jesus is with us, as He promised: "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20).
The fear of the unknown is real, but what if, just maybe, you’re met with a receptive heart? What if that friend or family member agrees to go to church, where seeds can be planted, and they could meet Jesus?
Is it scary? Absolutely. Is it worth asking? 100%. Even if they go and don’t accept the Lord (this time), stepping into a church the week after Easter or even next Easter can feel a little easier.
Easter is the doorway. Let the Holy Spirit tend to their heart. You offer the invitation and keep their seat warm on the pew.
Remember, fear not, you'll do great!
